Netflix released a wide mix of dramas, documentaries, reality shows, and limited series throughout 2024. Some focused on crime and family. Others explored romance, competition, motorsport, and real-life investigations.
If you are looking for Netflix series 2024 recommendations, this list is a good place to start. It brings together eight memorable titles from different genres, rather than focusing on one type of viewer.
These are not ranked from best to worst. Think of them as a selection of popular Netflix series that viewers in 2024 may still want to discover or revisit.
Availability varies by country and changes over time, so check your local Netflix catalog before planning your next watch.
1. The Brothers Sun
The Brothers Sun is an eight-episode action drama centered on comedy, crime, and family tension. The story follows Charles Sun, who travels from Taipei to Los Angeles after an attack on his family.
He reunites with his mother, Eileen, played by Michelle Yeoh, and his younger brother, Bruce, who has grown up without knowing the truth about his family’s criminal connections.
The series combines action scenes with a story about family expectations, identity, loyalty, and the different lives two brothers want to build.
Netflix released the series in January 2024.
For viewers looking through the best Netflix series 2024 lists for action mixed with family drama, The Brothers Sun is an easy title to consider.
2. The Trust: A Game of Greed
If you prefer reality competition, The Trust: A Game of Greed offers a very different experience.
Eleven strangers come together for a shared prize of $250,000. They can choose to split the money, but the format also creates opportunities to remove others and increase their own share.
That makes trust central to the game.
Instead of relying only on physical challenges, the show focuses on decisions, alliances, personal motives, and how quickly cooperation can change when money is involved.
The first episodes premiered on January 10, 2024.
In Netflix’s 2024 lineup, this one suits viewers who enjoy social experiments and strategy-driven reality TV.
3. American Nightmare
American Nightmare is a three-part true-crime documentary series based on the kidnapping of Denise Huskins and the events that followed.
After a home invasion in 2015, Huskins was kidnapped while her boyfriend, Aaron Quinn, was present. When she later reappeared, authorities questioned the couple’s version of events.
The series examines the case, the investigation, and the experience of the people involved.
This differs from the fictional crime dramas on this list. It deals with real events and includes disturbing subject matter, so it may not suit every viewer.
Netflix identifies American Nightmare as a three-episode documentary series from 2024. It became one of the more talked-about true-crime entries among Netflix TV shows in 2024.
4. Griselda
Griselda is a six-episode limited series inspired by real events surrounding Colombian drug trafficker Griselda Blanco.
Sofía Vergara takes the lead role in a much darker performance than many viewers may associate with her earlier comedy work.
The story follows Blanco’s rise within Miami’s drug trade and focuses on ambition, violence, family, power, and the consequences of the criminal world around her.
Netflix describes the production as a fictionalized dramatization inspired by real events, which is an important distinction. It should not be treated as a documentary account of every event shown on screen.
For crime-drama fans exploring the top Netflix series of 2024, Griselda offers a short limited-series format that is easy to finish over a few evenings.
5. NASCAR: Full Speed
NASCAR: Full Speed brings sports documentary storytelling to the list.
The five-part series follows drivers during the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs and championship race. It covers far more than racing footage.
Viewers get a closer look at the drivers, teams, preparation, pressure, competition, and personal demands behind the sport.
Featured drivers include Ryan Blaney, Denny Hamlin, Ross Chastain, Bubba Wallace, Kyle Larson, and others.
Netflix released the series on January 30, 2024.
If your idea of the best Netflix shows of 2024 includes sports documentaries, this is one of the most relevant titles from the original list.
6. One Day
The 2024 Netflix version of One Day is a romantic drama limited series based on David Nicholls’s novel. This matters because the earlier draft mixed details from the film adaptation with the newer Netflix series.
The Netflix series stars Ambika Mod as Emma Morley and Leo Woodall as Dexter Mayhew. Their relationship unfolds across many years, returning to the same date as their lives and feelings change.
The longer series format gives the story more time to explore friendship, ambition, relationships, missed opportunities, and personal growth.
One Day premiered on February 8, 2024, and runs for 14 episodes. It is one of the stronger romance options for readers searching for Netflix series 2024 recommendations.
7. Love Is Blind season 6
Love Is Blind returned in 2024 for its sixth season, with a new group of singles from Charlotte, North Carolina.
The familiar format remained the same. Participants meet and build relationships without seeing one another first. Some become engaged before meeting face-to-face.
The season then follows the couples as they leave the pods, spend time together, meet families, live together, and decide if their relationships can continue toward marriage.
Season 6 began on February 14, 2024. The finale arrived on March 6, followed by a reunion on March 13.
For viewers interested in dating reality TV, it remains one of the most recognizable entries among Netflix TV shows in 2024.
8. AlRawabi School for Girls season 2
Season 2 of AlRawabi School for Girls introduced a new chapter at the Jordanian girls’ school.
The season brings in a new group of students and explores issues involving friendships, social pressure, bullying, online behavior, identity, and teenage life.
Rather than simply repeating the first season’s story, the second season introduces different characters with their own conflicts.
Netflix released Season 2 on February 15, 2024.
It is a useful addition to this list because it gives the Netflix shows 2024 selection a story outside the typical US-centered productions.
